Louisville, KY - The men of Oakland City University Cross Country ran the opening 8k of the season at Tom Sawyer Park on Saturday. The meet was hosted by the University of Louisville.
Comparative to last year, this was the men's best top 5 average (30:23) in the 8,000-meter run. The four freshmen led the way for the Mighty Oaks. They were led by
Logan Smith with his time of 29:12, placing 71 in the competitive field of 189 runners.
"I was beyond pleased with the way the Freshmen competed in their first 8k ever. Three of them were able to run under 30-minutes, which is an exciting barrier to break for their first 8k. I'm looking forward to them continuing to improve as the weather cools down," mentioned Coach Guillozet.
The men will return to action at the Angel Mounds Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Indiana on October 18th.
