Evansville, IN - The men of the Oakland City Cross Country team competed at the Angel Mounds Invitational against some tough Division I programs.
Pierce Lashley led the men with his 8k time of 30:08, placing 139 out of 174.
Merdi Ilonga came next in 31:53, placing 152. Not far behind was
Landon Marshall in 32:24, placing 154. Closing out the group was
Ronald Kiprono in 34:02 (159) and Cole Jones in 34:17 (162).
"After a very strong showing from the women, the men had some big expectations going into the race," stated OCU Cross Country head coach
Blake Guillozet. "The field got out very quickly, pulling some of the guys into a fast first mile. I'm very pleased with the effort out of the group. I always remind them that they need to keep sticking to it and it will pay off down the road."
The men will return to action on October 21 at the Great Lakes Challenge 5k in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 11:45est.
