MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Dakyra Howard is the River States Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for March 18-24.
Howard, a freshman from Homestead, Fla., qualified for the NAIA national championship in the triple jump. She did so with the No. 7-ranked mark in the country.
Howard leaped 11.73 meters at the Margaret Simmons Invitational to hit the NAIA A qualifying standard. That placed second at the meet and is in control of the RSC lead.
Michael Nash is the River States Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for March 18-24.
The freshman from Clarksville, Ind., won the high jump at the Margaret Simmons Invitational. Nash cleared 1.90 meters to take first place at 6-feet, 2.75 inches.
Nash leads the conference in the high jump by eight centimeters in the event.
