Track & Field Opens 2025 at Rose-Hulman Friday Night Spike

Terre Haute, IN - The Oakland City track & field team opened up the indoor season with a small group of six athletes competing at the Friday Night Spike Opener on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Oaks had several highlights during the evening.

Freshman Emerick Randolph led a three-man contingent of milers for the Oaks breaking the school record by 18 seconds in a time of 4:41.30. Following Emerick was Sophomore Pierce Lashley 4:44.85 and Freshman Eli Mayes 5:07.99.

Micheal Nash and Landon Marshall where the only Oaks to score in the meet finishing first and third in the high jump at 1.90m and 1.80m respectively, just an inch off of their season bests from last year. After the duo moved to the track. Nash ran the 200 meters in 24.64 placing 18th, while Marshall ran the 400 placing 9th in 57.07 and the 200 in 25.20 placing 25th.

The lone competitor for the women's team, Tanisha English, made the finials and finished 7th in the weight throw with a mark of 10.88 meters.

"The Mighty Oaks performed well for the first meet of the season and the limitations they had in preparation due to the delayed start of classes and the challenging weather so far in January," said Mighty Oaks head coach Jack Kegg.

The Oaks will return to competition on Friday, January 24, at the second FNS meet at Rose-Hulman.
