Anderson, IN - The Oakland City University track & field team closed out the regular indoor season on a high note and looks ready for the River States Conference Championships next week. Competing at the Anderson University Invite the Oaks had several highlights during Saturday afternoon's competition.
A pair of school record holders improved the school records with eighth place finishes. Tanisha English improved her record in the 20lb weight throw by 3 centimeters from last season to 11.14 meters. Emerick Randolph improved on his own school record in the mile with a time of 4:39.76.
Tamerra English had her own success making the finals then finishing fourth in a season's best time of 8.47. The duo of Niewa Brown and Chloe O'Neal finished second and third respectfully in the 600 meters.
Micheal Nash was the lone event winner for the Oaks, winning the high jump with a mark of 1.90m. Other Mighty Oaks that had outstanding performances were; Landon Marshall finished second in the 600m by winning the second heat in a time of 1:34.74. Pierce Lashley ran a strong 1000 meters finishing in third with a time of 2:44.34. The foursome of Joyeux Ndabagoye, Landon Marshall, Pierce Lashley, and Michael Nash closed out the meet in the 4x400 relay with a season's best effort of 3:41.29 to place 4th.
"We had fourteen seasons best performances and 2 school records today. I feel really good about how everyone competed and that we are continuing to improve going into conference" said Coach Kegg.
The Oaks will return to competition this next Friday and Saturday at the River States Conference Championships at Marietta, OH.
