As a high school basketball standout at North Harrison High School in Ramsey, Indiana, Chad Miller made his way to Oakland City University after a very successful high school career. Miller holds many scoring and three-point records at NHHS, while also being selected during his junior and senior season to First-Team All-State and the North-South All-Star Game.

As a player at OCU, Miller was a three-year team captain as well as a three-time First-Team NCCAA All-American. At the conclusion of his senior season, Miller was named the Pete Maravich Award winner, given to the NCCAA National Player of the Year, the only player in OCU history to earn such an honor.

During his playing career, Miller was known for lighting up the scoreboard with his shooting ability behind the arc, and is ranked ninth all-time in scoring at OCU, with 1,462 career points. He is also ranked ninth in career three-point field goal percentage, making 328 career three pointers, on 696 attempts, for an average of 47%.

Miller holds the OCU single season record for made threes, set at 119 in the 2006-07 season, eclipsing his own mark of 109 set during the 2004-05 campaign. He also holds the most three pointers made in a single game with 11, and is ranked second in career three pointers made, with 328. His 88% free throw shooting percentage in the 2005-06 season ranks as the fourth best in a single year, while his 83% career ranks seventh.

Following his playing career and graduation from OCU in 2007, Miller has had a successful career in healthcare, holding executive leadership roles. He serves as the Vice President of Business Development and Sales for the largest senior living provider in Indiana, American Senior Communities.

Miller is married to Kimberly (Sliwa) Miller, who also played basketball at OCU, graduating in 2007. They have a daughter, Elle, born in 2013, and are members of Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana. Miller also coaches his daughter's AAU basketball team, Indiana Elite.
