A 2005 graduate of Shenandoah High School, Chelsea Miller was seen as one of the top shooters in her region, catching the eye of a number of college coaches. However, when Clint Weddle, also an OCU Hall of Fame member, brought her to Oakland City for a visit, she knew she had found her home. “I liked everything about the university,” stated Chelsea, “I really liked my teammates.”
The team found success right away, reaching the NCCAA National Championship game at the end of the 2005-06 season, the first championship appearance in school history.

After a coaching change, Jessica Mehringer coached the team for the remaining three seasons, reaching the NCCAA National Tournament each year Miller was on the team, finishing third in 2007, third in 2008, and seventh in 2009.

She finished her career as the top three-point shooter in the history of the program, having made 267 shots from distance, including 83 in her opening campaign. She also set and still holds the record of 10 made threes in a game.

Her total of 88.2% from the free throw line, where she was 186-211, set the career mark. Her best single season came in 2007-08 when she made 72-79 from the line for 91.1%, second best to that point in OCU women’s basketball history.
With 1,278 career points, she graduated eighth on the all-time scoring list. She earned NCCAA Second Team All-American honors in 2006 and in 2009, while being an Honorable Mention All-American in 2008.

Chelsea graduated from Oakland City University with a degree in special education. She married former OCU baseball player Adam Kilian and returned to teach and coach at her alma mater, leading the Shenandoah girl’s basketball team for five seasons, winning two Indiana 2A Sectional titles.
“I have taught special education for 15 seasons and I really like working with young people who need extra help,” said Kilian, “I’ve been around great people, including great teachers at OCU. I am still close with many of my teammates and coaches.”
Chelsea has three sons, Kipton, Drake, and Bodie, and lives in Middletown, Indiana.
